For more than two decades, Daniel Strause has witnessed firsthand how America’s health care system has been overtaken by vertically integrated corporations, pharmacy benefit managers, insurance carriers, and their affiliated entities, all profiting at the expense of patients, independent pharmacies, and communities.
As a CPA trained at the former Big Six accounting firm Arthur Andersen, Daniel was taught the principles of healthy skepticism, “trust but verify,” and the relentless pursuit of truth through evidence and accountability. When he transitioned from finance to pharmacy ownership, he applied those same values to patient care. His family of pharmacies was built on a mission to help people move from pharmaceutical to nutraceutical to food-based health, a holistic approach rooted in prevention, education, and empowerment.
Now, through the docuseries Modern Medical Mafia, Daniel brings both disciplines together, finance and health, to audit America’s health care system on behalf of patients, pharmacists, and employers. His work exposes how middlemen manipulate for profit while spotlighting real, proven solutions that can restore transparency, fairness, and sustainability.
Known as “The Auditor for Patients and Advocate for Fair Health Care,” Daniel combines investigative rigor with compassion, turning data into truth and truth into action. His goal is simple but profound: to verify what’s broken, expose who profits, and help America rebuild a health care system worthy of its people.
